Bio
 Bambi Yost

Ms Yost is a Design and Planning (DSPL) doctoral student at the University of Colorado at Denver (UCD) where she recently completed a dual master degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning. From 2001-2007, she planned, organized, and led community-based, design-build Learning Landscape projects. Learning Landscapes are playgrounds designed to function as public parks, educational facilities, community landmarks, and more. She works closely with fellow UCD graduate and undergraduate students, other nonprofits, community members, independent contractors, public and private organizations, and Denver Public Schools students, faculty, staff, and management.

Prior to pursuing her dual master degree, she was a career advisor for two years at the Art Institute of Colorado and a Program Manager and Educator for five years for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Virginia where she designed and led environmental programs. Ms. Yost has an extensive background in outdoor education, volunteer coordination, physical design and construction, grant research and writing, and nonprofit programs.

She is currently working as a Graduate Part-time Instructor and Research Assistant for the Undergraduate Environmental Design Program in Boulder and for the Architecture & Planning Graduate Program in Denver.  Her research focuses on children’s play, public health and the built environment, perceptions of risk, youth empowerment, youth perceptions and preferences, youth identity formation, place identity, and participatory action research. In her free time she helps host the MURP listserv, freelances as a landscape architect, and tries to play as much as possible.
